Dave was born the year Alaska officially became our 49th state. In 1980 after graduating college, his true addiction to the great land began with a trip up the Alcan Highway in a Jeep. That lone trip over 25 years ago began a life long obsession with this incredible place. "Alaska"
Dave's understanding of Alaska, its people, wildlife and landscapes is aided by a degree in environmental studies but has blossomed to so much more. Numerous trips to hundreds of locations have only strengthened his love & lust for this land. Now a high school history teacher, Dave spends as much time as possible outdoors, preferably in Alaska
Dave's discipline whether teaching, fishing or snappin\' wildlife photos of bears 4 feet away all stem from his Marine Corp Drill SGT Father. "Do it the best you possibly can" and "your word as a man is most important," he'd say. Listening to his father's stories of sacrifice from such places ad Guadacanal, Peliliu and Iowa Jima only made Dave strive harder. This is the same attitude taken when photographing his beloved Alaska. This place, its history and Dave seem all interwoven between WWII, his father, the Alcan and true passion for this beautiful land and wildlife. Strange but true... this place called the Great Land truly is that and so much more, It's an addiction, obsession - it\'s Alaska! Come along and visit the true last frontier. |
